user reviews of Varsity, Bolton

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The service in this place is absolutely dreadful don’t ever go there. They are now under new management and it has changed a lot this past few years. It’s always empty.

I went in there a few weeks ago in the early afternoon and ordered a “baked lasagne”. There were only 2 or 3 customers in there at the time.

35 minutes later my order still hadn’t arrived so I went to the bar man and politely asked him what was causing the delay. The barman was rude and irate and retorted in an angry manner “It’s called a baked lasagne because it has to be baked”. I was really disgusted with his behaviour and lack of courtesy.
I sat back down again and waited a further 15 minutes before the order arrived. Absolutely dreadful service. Never ever go in there for a bite to eat as it will cost you half of your afternoon.

Has just got real ale back and it was cheap and of a reasonable standard. Also has Setanta

It's ok, nothing special though. It's pretty much just like all the rest of the Varsity chain really.
