Had a couple of duff pints lately. Some of the staff seem to have disappeared too and the service wasn't too attentive last time I was there. Its not the same as it was a few months back and I don't go in as much as I used to. I've been gravitating to the Cinque Ports instead and noticed quite a few folks that I used to see in the Welly are now here also. Sad to see a pub lose its charm and reputation as far as my custom is concerned. So easy to lose customers, so hard to get 'em back. persist_artist - 7 Jul 2009 17:16
Been in several times since the re-furb. Always seem to gravitate to this pub. Had a nice walk along the prom on Sunday morning and ended up for a pre-lunch pint in the Welly again. Yes its still clean, yes its still friendly, yes the staff are very attentive yes they had 6 good real ales on and now they have installed a grand piano in the main bar too. Bloke (Dennis) tinkling the ivories was seemed quite good to me and would probably got better too had I stayed for a few more. Do like this pub and the St Austell Tribute is a bonus in my opinion. persist_artist - 18 Nov 2008 12:51
As stated before this is a Greene King pub and therefore they have to sell IPA & Abbott. The best thing is that they sell Dark Star Hophead as a regular ale which is a great bonus. This pub is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly enough. Been in a couple of times midwek and everybody has been in the smaller bar watching the Sky football leaving the main bar virtually empty. It seems to lack a bit of atmosphere but this maybe because it was a bit quiet. douvres - 7 Nov 2008 18:23
Currently closed for a re-furbishment. Hope they don't take too long! persist_artist - 22 Aug 2008 17:11
Def a locals pub. I've just moved into the area and was made very welcome. Seems they always have a rotating selection of 5 decent real ales and sometimes even 6. Never had a duff pint yet and they do seem to fill the glass here too. Looking forward to becoming a local. persist_artist - 13 Jul 2008 16:44
