I notice there have been no comments for a while. Yesterday I decided to go for the carvery, which is only now on a Sunday, despite what it states on the out of date Fullers website. There were no prices up and whilst relaxed, I found the instruction to just go and find a table not exactly welcoming. As to the carvery, whilst the meat was enjoyable there was a shortage of vegetables, which included peas and sweetcorn. Given the lack of veg initially we returned for more, or in some cases, some items, to be told there are no repeat visits. What sort of carvery is that?! We had forsaken the Toby at Windosr for this as it is nearer, but for 50pence less it was not worth it all. Whilst the Seafarer was drinkable at £3.03 a pint we will be returning to the Toby for Oxford Gold at £2.50 and a much better meal in the future. dougscott - 7 Nov 2011 12:19
Bad news (although, I suppose, good news for some !) - Shaun is leaving and will be gone by all accounts before the end of July. Can only hope that Shaun's high standards will be maintained. MillHouse - 9 Jul 2009 10:43
Not sure when Shaun ran Shannons. Used to be not too bad in the 1990s when it was the Chariot. Whatever he did there, it's what happens now that counts, and he's certainly turned the Hare and Hounds into a pub I enjoy going to. dougscott - 2 Mar 2009 00:25

Like him or loathe him (personally I quite like the bloke)it cannot be denied that Shaun has turned this pub around big time. Since he's been there(about three years ?)I haven't seen or heard of any fights taking place. He seems to have got rid of a lot of the rubbish that used to go in. It's very nice inside coupled with a pleasant covered patio area out the back and a good secure garden. The real ales are always in good nick alongside very well presented, reasonably priced food. My fear is that Shaun will leave and go elsewhere. To those who haven't been in for while I can only suggest you give it a try. My only complaint is that on live music nights (about once or twice a month) when you have to buy a ticket then the whole pub is out of bounds to those who just want a drink and aren't interested in the music. I don't believe that "public" houses should be allowed to do this; another bar (which the H&H does have) should remain open for general use. MillHouse - 5 Jul 2008 12:04
