Used to be a regular on the Alt music nights every sunday back when it was Life bar..
Have ventured back in there a few weeks ago after my mate and i watched our football team slaughter someone..
Ended up so drunk he couldnt see and i could hardly walk. and we both still had plenty of cash left over, which is usually unheard of.
pretty nice atmosphere and the music wasnt so loud you have to scream in your mates ear to be heard..

The music is always good, especially on a saturday.
However, they've obviously never heard of air con as its always so incredibly hot. To the point that if i straighten my curly hair, its wavy and frizzy by the end of the night.
Its quite expensive too, which means it's usually quite poserish. The clientele are the "i love me who do you love type".
None the less its a good night once your hammered and dont care about anything other than a good dance!

Well, what can I say! I spend a fair amount of time in this place on Saturday nites! Saturdays are by far the best if you are 21 and over, Friday nites r for the kiddies! I tend to spend my time upstairs as the music is much better, Rnb, Garage, Old Skool, Funky House and all the latest songs out. And theres a good amount of dancing space plus you can always get served at the bar. The drink prices are a bit overpriced considering it is just Romford! I would probably have a cheaper nite out in London, but cant stand the tourists! Getting into 131 at about 10:30ish will mean you dont have to cue much, also carry I.D. they ID almsot everyone, and I dont look young, so dont forget it! And remember there isnt much of a dress code, I think no trainers, but apart from that where wot u want, most ppl make an effort. Downstairs the music is ok, if your drunk, mostly cheese and some songs at at the moment, and some golden oldies, popular with the older generation - of which I am not a member - yet! Also the price to enter upstairs is far to say a rip off! When I forst ventured into Life it was free, then gradually started at £1 and now over 2 years has increased to £4, bit of a rip off, but worth it coz the music better! Also the toilets for ladies, r nice when they r empty but are like a sauna when they get busy, quick entry and exit is recommended, apply make up in hall way outside! The only bad thing about 131 Is that it closes at 1am! Bit lame when youre just gettin drunk and then u have to leave, u can always venture over to Time & Envy, not recommended, but if your drunk ull love it, and ull love paying nearly 3 quid for a bottle of water! lol
Anyways, back to the point, id definately recommend 131 (always wanna call it Life), take 50quid if you wanna get drunk and are sharing a cab home!

since changing to the 131 Lounge and Bar the old "Life Bar" is clearly the best place in romford to go.. you can stay clear of all the kids that go in Edwards.. all the "special people" that go in The Place, and all the snobs who think the custom house is a london club!!! its a place where you can either let your hair down to the funny but talented DJ'S Downstairs or venture upstairs for a more night club atmostphere.. weekends are always busy so make sure you get down there early PLUS cheap drinks before 9.30 winner!!! Door staff and managment are friendly worth a visit!

Hilariously ironic name considering the amount of fights I've seen down there, although that's something of an occupational hazard in Wrongford. Formerly a bank and then purchased by Rank Entertainment in 1998 when it became Jumpin' Jaks. Rank then shot themselves in the foot by opening superclub Time and Envy just across the road. I presume it was sold, becoming Life Bar.

Consistently packed at the weekend, the doormen let so many people in that you'll be packed in like sardines for much of the evening. Lacking in special deals on drinks, you'll come out significantly less well-off than you were when you went in, as is the way with the 'upper class' venues in town. The dual-floored layout works (if you can actually get upstairs), if you're trying to avoid someone or if you don't like the music on the other floor.

Good tunes on the whole (played very loudly) and Life's proximity to the station will always make it a useful early-evening rendezvous. Door policy is fairly strict in terms of how old the patrons are.
