| This was the third and last pub we visited in Beamish. The best was the Stables Bar & Restaurant which houses the Stables Brewery and several of its beers, plus the only real ciders we discovered in a total of 20 pubs tried in both Cumbria and Durham. Sadly it is not listed on here. The Shepherd & Shepherdess was a nice enough pub with an L-shaped bar and it seemed to be popular with diners. | Reasonable fare, busy place for lunch beside the Beamish Museum. Very popular with old people in sensible shoes and chav stanley types with pikey kids. An odd mix. dazzles - 6 Mar 2006 23:57 |
| No sky TV, no pool table, no sports screens, no blaring music. Just good beer, great food (super menu) served by very friendly staff. Lovely country pub atmosphere and cheeky little pub quiz on Wednesday at 9pm. Tania - 15 Jun 2004 14:16 |
