Depending on your point of view this pub is either tatty or lived-in. Not a big place so it got full pretty quickly and there didn't appear to be many chairs either. For a pub in the GBG I was a little disappointed in the real ale range when I was there. Only 2 of the 4 pumps working, (1 of them had only just run out apparently). The service was ok and there was a mix of clientele, (ages and gender). Not a pub I'd go out of my way to visit but worth a couple of pints if I'm in the area. outtamehead - 26 Oct 2011 12:59
After reading the reviews I was a bit wary, but in the end pleasantly surprised. It's a typical single room street corner boozer, a bit shabby but clean enough in the right places - seats, tables, glasses, toilets. Wolf Brewery's Straw Dog wheat beer went down well on a warm day and there were another four working handpulls to choose from. It's not one of London's great undiscovered pubs and I wouldn't make a detour to come here but it's not bad at all. djw - 2 Jul 2011 00:15
Despite the last 2 reviews by members of staff, its still a filthy pit. Bad beer, bad service, no vampires, no blinding artwork, no tattooed staff fighting tesco trucks. Just a painfully well below average pit. Imagine a group of people who like drinking in pubs. They know nothing about how to run them. They buy one. Its The Hope. Can't see it being in business in 6 months. camraman123 - 5 Mar 2011 01:15
I was there on Tuesday night with a friend, this is a small pub and on Tuesday night it was very quiet but the barstaff and what I assume are the regular patrons make you feel welcome so I will be going back. Recommended Batman51 - 26 Aug 2010 11:24
| this pub is by far the greatest pub i've had the pleasure of visiting in London. the bar staff are friendly, extremely helpful, and one of the young ladies there loves vampire board games that involve swords and axes... need i say more? ok then i will, on football nights there is an atmosphere for which the only word i can think of is awesome! almost like being in a stadium full of supporters of all teams... comparable to Nelson Mandela's South African rainbow nation! the glasses are now clean.. they never used to be back in June 2010 but now they are, the young lady who likes vampire board games and jellied eels (though she's never had any, someone should bring her some) really recommends the chicken pasta with spicy sauce, which is very very good but not actually on the menu, and i wasn't convinced it was chicken. what is on the menu is a wide wide wide range of sausages to go with mash, and the brazilians home made gravy which is oh oh oh so good. the manager is hot, sexy and awesome, the bar staff have tattoos, and the chef fights tesco trucks (as do the rest of the staff)... and there are plenty of free sweets on offer... the black boards are very informative and quite frankly the art word is blinding, in a positive way, it could be compared to Monet. the only other thing i will say, and i'll leave you all with this.. the vampire board game loving barmaid from the north, with red knees is ....... drumroll......
