Yes, the Hope is under new management and it is beginning to show ! Like many other regulars, I sort-of liked the tatty incarnation from before, but maybe a make-over is in order. Main differences are that there is always BEER on ! No more walking in on a Saturday and finding 5 dry pumps, and one can actually use the bogs without having to paddle and / or getting dripped-on from above. The lightbulbs have been replaced also ! Can't say on the ales provided as I can't remember (!!) but will probably drop in this afto for the football results and report back.

This pub is in major need of a refurb. The toilets are disgusting and the bar looks really tatty. I hear it's now under new management so I hope they do a much better job than the last one as I don't think he was bothered at all. A shame as this could be a total gem of a pub in the right hands....ah well...

Depending on your point of view this pub is either tatty or lived-in. Not a big place so it got full pretty quickly and there didn't appear to be many chairs either.
For a pub in the GBG I was a little disappointed in the real ale range when I was there. Only 2 of the 4 pumps working, (1 of them had only just run out apparently).
The service was ok and there was a mix of clientele, (ages and gender).
Not a pub I'd go out of my way to visit but worth a couple of pints if I'm in the area.

After reading the reviews I was a bit wary, but in the end pleasantly surprised. It's a typical single room street corner boozer, a bit shabby but clean enough in the right places - seats, tables, glasses, toilets.

Wolf Brewery's Straw Dog wheat beer went down well on a warm day and there were another four working handpulls to choose from. It's not one of London's great undiscovered pubs and I wouldn't make a detour to come here but it's not bad at all.

Despite the last 2 reviews by members of staff, its still a filthy pit. Bad beer, bad service, no vampires, no blinding artwork, no tattooed staff fighting tesco trucks. Just a painfully well below average pit. Imagine a group of people who like drinking in pubs. They know nothing about how to run them. They buy one. Its The Hope. Can't see it being in business in 6 months.
