Good pub with good ales and good food. Dog friendly as well. We always call in when in the area. Shame that they don't sell Moles Black Rat Cider anymore..........Bring Back Black Rat!!!! Please

This is a very well run, friendly pub with decent food.
I drop in every time I'm in the area.
The beers change regularly and are well kept, the beer festivals are great fun with good live music and a vast array of well priced ale!
This pub is cycle friendly, with helpful chatty staff.
Good work fellas!

We visited on a hot Sunday at lunch time. Charming staff, lovely pub (slightly 'down-at-heel' outside) but great PUB inside. The beer was perfect, some unpronounceable summer ale from a local brewer, and my wife so enjoyed her white wine & soda she had a second. We sat in the peaceful garden, almost under the aquaduct, and were served the Sunday roast lamb and fish 'n'chips. My wife, who has eaten fish'n'chips in some of the best resaurants in the world, felt moved to tell the staff that the batter was the best she had ever tasted!! As for my lamb, the clean plate told the story.
Thoroughly recommended on all counts, the sort of pub that deserves your support

I worked in this pub nearly 20 years ago. It was great then, and is still great! Wonderful selection of ales from all over the country, most from small breweries. Friendly staff, and a great beer garden at the rear.

A great pub. Visited Monday 27/7/09, mid-afternoon-ish.

Good selection of ales, but felt like living dangerously so ordered a pint of Moles Black Rat Cider, on draught.

Pub was obviously fairly quiet at that time of day (and on a Monday) but there were a few customers dotted around.

Barman was friendly and knowledgeable. Pub is very traditional with few frills but bags of atmosphere.

Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.
