The Midas Touch is worth a visit, and the new owners need some credit here. They've refurb'd a pub that had gone to pot. But it's clear they're headed in the right direction. The decor is the 'modern pub look' you find all over SW London (big sofas/non-matching lampshades). The staff were friendly and knew what they were doing. Beers were not expensive. Food was actually very good and cheaper than similar places in New Malden/Kingston... And no I'm not the owner! Or their mate. But I do have friends in the trade who've tried turning other pubs around and I know how tough it is to get known for yourself not the last lot.

The Midas Touch, pretty much sums up what this pub is and always will be... 'Touched'. The funny thing is once the T fell off and u had the midas ouch hahaha which is exactly how most people feel if ya not a regular. I don't care what they say, this will always be the vile scum of this earth, please locals all go visit one night so we can burn this place down with u in it. Amen.

I have been here a few times now and although it's finding it's feet it really is a very nice pub. The food is really good and good value for money. The staff are very polite and welcoming. A far cry from a few years ago when it was yobbos paradise.
I also like the idea of supporting local pubs as they are all in danger. The drill is closed again, the North end is a really cheap and cheerful happening. The Midas Touch, better by far

I almost came in here, but couldn't get much beyond the kitsch furniture. There is a large, but seemingly random selection, from modern budget sofas to facsimilie medieval thrones, so it looks rather like a theatre's store room.

Noticing the prams and push chairs beyond and being rapidly deafened by the wailing of their occupants, we admitted defeat and withdrew.

From my observations, I can best describe it as a fast food outlet, with seating, where you can also buy alcohol.

*NOW CALLED MIDAS TOUCH*

Reopened early April after a refurbishment and new owners. Visited on Saturday for a quiet late afternoon drink to see the improvements.

Plus points: Lots of large leather sofas and chairs and a relaxed informal environment. Decor modern and calming.

Bad points: An unusually large gathering of young families and pushchairs for a licensed establishment (seriously, its a pub not a creche), and not a huge range of beer/lager.

Nothing really wrong about this place but needs to settle in. 101% improvement on old Huntsmans.

Will return as best place on high street, but will not go back on a weekend afternoon.
