Good pub, nice place with 6 real ales, plus one cider on.
Quality okay if not sparkling.

This is an excellent pub, with very good friendly staff and a very lovely couple who run it, they are extremely friendly and accomadating, The food is always very good and their choice have real ale is fantastic with regular and gueat beers always available, the accommadation is very good too at reasonable rates. It seems a very popular pub kept in good control by the landlord and landlady always clean and tidy, and it as also won CAMRA town pub of the year 3 years running.

I have lived in Louth for a year, and I rate this as my top pub out of 20+ pubs and bars in the immediate area. It's a Free House in the centre of this Market Town, run by a friendly couple, who obviously know exactly what they're doing, assisted by their well-trained Staff. They cater for the full range of age groups and outlooks, and manage to make all feel welcome and even involved in the life of the place. The atmosphere is relaxed, but it's clear to everyone that the Licensees are very much in charge, and that their high standards of courtesy and behaviour will be adhered to - which I feel is important, as few people wish to go back to a pub where loud swearing or obviously drunken behaviour are tolerated.

Prices are most reasonable for all drinks, including the wide range of excellently kept Real Ales. There are always Guest Beers on offer. Food is served in the spacious Lounge Bar, and in the large Restaurant. With the food, as with the drink, prices are excellent, and so is the quality and attentive service. Food is always served piping hot, with nice cutlery and all the little extras one is often left searching for in vain, such as Horseradish Sauce and English Mustard.

The roomy premises, which are kept clean throughout, were once a Coaching Inn. Patrons with children or dogs are both made welcome in certain rooms, which ensures all tastes are catered for. The premises are of interest for the range of old photos of Louth, and historical maps that are on display.

The Mason's is extensively used by Market Stall Holders and customers, on the 3 days a week when the Market is held in the Cornmarket area, in which the pub stands. Reasonably priced accommodation is available, though I cannot say I have stayed as a guest.

Finally, I should add that The Mason's was the proud winner of a Louth Area Real Ale Pub Award, against some very stiff competition indeed.

Was up visiting friends and popped in here for a couple of pints...very friendly staff, clean tables and was surprised how cheap the round of 8 drinks was compared to London...could be worth moving up here just for the beer money I would save.
