Afraid I think the average rating for this place (8.8 as I review this) is an overestimate by about 3 marks. This isn't a great area for pubs (to say the least) but the Midland Hotel is pretty unremarkable. It's located high above the M1 next to Hendon railway station. There's a pleasant and airy front bar and a darker pool room at the back. The pub advertises itself as a GK house, and a poster by the door advertises various GK ales, but all three handpumps were disused when I happened by - whether a temporary glitch or not, that's not really good enough for a GK pub. The landlord seemed friendly enough but ultimately I'd only visit this boozer again if I needed to kill time waiting for a train.

I agree. This is one of the better pubs in Hendon alongside the new and improved White Bear on the burroughs. For a good night out in the area, these are the best two bars in town. I like to start in one and finish in the other depending on the weather! good atmosphere and drinks.

This is a great pub with a DJ and late license on Friday and Saturday nights. The landlord is truly lovely and very helpful. The food is really nice and we were advised if there was something we fancied to eat that wasn't on the menu, to come into the pub the day before we wanted to come in for dinner and tell the chef who would get the ingredients and cook it especially for us - how's that for service?!! Decor is understated but nicely done, and there are loads of tables so you rarely have to stand (which is good when you have a penchant for wearing heels). Although the wine list is a little limited, I found the white very drinkable (Venetian Pinot Grigio) and it was reasonably priced. I even took a bottle home at the end of the evening and the landlord refused to charge me the normal pub price for it. I feel very lucky to have this pub as my local.

Small, quiet, smokey, burger menuing, pool table’d establishment with varied choice of wine... yes, ‘it’s either red or white, love’.

I recently started drinking here - what a great place! The food is fantastic - restaurant quality. Just found out they won't be showing SKY sports anymore - which is good news for the ladies! Happy that there is finally a decent place in Hendon with a bit of class.
