Can anything be done to cheer Morticia up? "smiles are rare…ruined beauty…contemptuous…even in disposition, muted, sometimes deadly…" (Charles Addams) Unless of course Angelica Huston has gone undercover in Cheam. "Huston's portrayal of Morticia was always illuminated by a ghostly glow around the eyes, which became most noticeable when she was standing or lying in dim light." KittyChumley - 20 Jul 2009 14:57
Curry Night in a pub is normally a boil in a bag meal, but not here the young chef makes a fresh curry that rivals that of the villages curry houses. Was made welcome as soon as I arrives and overall my whole experience was a joy. Will definatley be back to try some more of their food and real ales!! TinyTim - 23 Apr 2008 14:33
Bland, bland, bland - if you had to think of a colour to describe this place it would be beige. A completely unmemorable place - shame as it used to be always packed and atmospheric. It's been 'modernised' and now loooks like any bar anywhere - consequently it was virtually empty when visited, just a few old lags watching golf on the TV! discerningdan - 14 Feb 2008 18:33
Something has gone radically wrong with this once great little boozer.Eat there recently and more like a greasy spoon.Glasses were filthy and attitude of elderly greyhaired barman was terrible. He kept trying to eavesdrop our conversation. The wine "selection" was just that, red or white.Needs a shakeup badly.Has the feel of somewhere thats up for sale or about to close its doors.Pity.Cheam deserves a proper local with proper staff. livelyjoe - 11 Dec 2007 04:33
Of all the places to go in Cheam, I have always found this bar relaxing and accomodating. The manager, Biffy is by far the nicest northerner I have ever met. His choice in football team is excellent! Its also a great Eater pub! The house special, Biffy Bacon Sarnies are the best! anonymous - 8 Apr 2007 22:36
