| not bad, but the gents could do with a propper clean, and a good dose of dettol. Good beer, but the local old men hang round outside and do deals from thier smuggling rackets, and have thier fags far too close to the doors. Most times you have to fight your way round them just to get in the doors. why cant they smoke away from the doors ????? usual collection od desperate old meths drinkers, but what the hell..... | they staight-pour guiness here then laugh about it. possibly the worst pub in the world werewolf - 13 Jun 2009 12:56 |
| During the pouring of Guiness it is customary to let it settle for a minute or so as this makes for a better pint. Serving ice-cold Guiness in the middle of winter with no alternative is bad practice. Saying please or thank - you to a customer helps make the world go roound that little bit smoother. wonderofyou - 9 Mar 2009 19:42 |
| The only place in Orpington to go for a pint of something interesting. Has had its ups and downs in the last few years but current manager Steve (formally of the Sovereign in Petts Wood) has transformed it into one of the best Wetherspoons for beer in SE London. Usually at least 2-3 guest ales, well kept and well selected from the seasonal list - it's been a long time since I've been served a bad pint here. How many JDW establishments can you say that about? The 'food' is better these days too. Thursday Curry Club in particular is worth a punt. You just need to overlook the circus-like rabble of infirm alchies (aka loyal custom) that congregate near the front of the pub every single day without fail, swilling pint after pint of Fosters or Guiness. That said, they're harmless and havve never made me feel uncomfortable. Fine for a swift lunch hour but I wouldn't willingly spend a whole evening here. young_camra_collectiv - 2 Mar 2009 21:49 |
| One of the better Wetherspoons with more choise of real ale than in most, pubs in Orpington look vast, the 15 minute walk here from the station took me past just one pub which was the one outside the station superseagulls - 1 Mar 2009 11:46 |
