Cracking atmosphere on a music night, mainly Fridays and Saturdays, having good bands playing Ska , Punk and 60s , all sorts really. Packed full of folk, has an easy going atmosphere, a bit chaotic at times pogo while you drink... Beer is spot on with 3 microbrewery guests, local to the area. Cuerden Gold recently at £2.30 was in good condtion. Heated smoking area at back and access to bar.

Ale was fine but for a Saturday afternoon the annoying dance type music made this a short visit. Would possibly re-visit depending on the music.

Great old boozer reopened recently as The Polished Knob. Good beer reasonably priced, good food & Live bands some evenings, Close to both the bus & Train stations. worth a visit.

After the closure and sale of The Black Swan, this venue is now open again as 'The Polished Knob' and is a good drinking and dining pub.

The real ales are £2 per pint Sun-Thurs every week. We had the Hyde's Manchester's Finest which was a really good pint.
Food is relatively cheap and looked good when we were there although we didn't eat. It is a tastefully furnished pub with outside covered area for smokers out the back and a couple of tables out the front in the street. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. A really nice pub.
