Definitely a food pub. Food was above average, although they don't do Sunday roasts (we visited on a Sunday). Staff friendly but a little clueless. Beer however was very poorly kept too cold to disguise that it was past its best.

Called in last Saturday afternoon and asked for the menu whilst ordering a pint of Hyde's Saint George. Upon being told that the pint was 3.20 (or possibly 3.25) I suddenly lost my appetite. Some of the meals were reasonably priced but not if one were to choose to have a couple of pints to "wash it down"! There is a stupid sign at the front door saying use the rear entrance yet there are tables out the front - are you supposed to circumnavigate the pub every time you want to go to the bar/toilets?

I then carried on walking about a mile to the Hanging Gate at Sutton and the exact same beer was 2.75 (yes 50p cheaper!) This was a much nicer pub too with fantastic views from the rear beer garden and excellent food.

Nice place but average food and service. Quite expensive. Benchmarked by butter in sachets and toilets not quite right. Also serves that pretend and odious "nouvelle cuisine". Ugh! Average for Britain.

I go to this Pub about once a month, I have always found the staff cheerful and welcoming. I particularly like their idea of service, which is they show you to a table (usually where I would chose to sit) then take your order. No queuing at counters, remembering what your table number is and they don't confiscate your credit card in case you do a runner! It is in a beautiful part of Cheshire, the food is good and well presented.
