| The Hop Poles is a great quirky pub. It has Live Music every week and Live Sport on Sentanta & Sky Sports. Don't listen to the bitter previous comments about them treating their bands badly, it is not true. The bands that play here have a great laugh and a large majority of them come back at least 3 times a year. The Sunday Roast served 12-3 is superb. Receive a friendly welcome here. If you're a little bit different you will love this pub. Dog Friendly too! SaraLara - 10 Sep 2008 18:20 |
| My band was booked on 29th February for a gig on 17th May and because a previous engagement had been cancelled due to a double booking, I took the precaution of phoning on the 16th only to find out that, once again, another band was booked. We play an average of 6 gigs per month so it's very irritating to lose a gig when we could have had a booking elsewhere. The co-owner was apologetic but offered no compensation or redress. At the mention of "small claims" proceedings, she told me to "join the queue"! It doesn't seem worth enforcing this contract. gigger - 17 May 2008 18:08 |
| I have had dealings with this pub more many years, and find the comments made by Catboybadger to be laughable in the extreme and way off the mark, The manager in friendly and the atmosphere convivial, live music is dwindeling these days and it is nice to still have a venue that offers such a wide range. | Slander: the utterance of false charges or misrepresentations which defame and damage another's reputation. This review is slanderous. Defamation of character. The band in question have unfortunately given a rather biased AND inaccurate version of the event on Saturday 4th August. Rather than airing my dirty laundry in public, I rang them in attempt to resolve the matter. The Hop Poles values its astounding reputation, offering weekly live music of many genres and second-to-none service standards and atmosphere. There are certainly NO fights in the premises, or thefts!! I ask you, the reader, to make up YOUR OWN mind about my pub, I love it and I bet you will too! hop_poles_manager - 15 Aug 2007 23:53 |
| BE WARNED. This pub rips off the bands who play there. Our band played there, (to no-one, we doubt any publicity had been done) after our set the extremely unpleasant landlady refused to pay us. She also attempted to steal equipment from us and threatend to have us beaten up. All in all a pub to stay well clear of. catboybadger - 6 Aug 2007 09:20 |
