The incredibly miserable old guy with the beard as run the Fox and Hounds for 8 years now, in that time he as turned the Fox from a “ok sort of pub” in to the best in the village, the two other village pubs are now shut the Railway having gone out of business two weeks ago, he’s as seen 15 landlords come and go in that time as won many awards been in the Good beer guide, the Good Pub Food guide was first to gain the Gold Beautiful Beer Award in the area and still is the only one. His beer sales are up again this year where most are seeing falling sales, last year came 5th out of 8500 pubs for customer service the reviewers stating “I wish this was my local”.
Perhaps you where just having a bad day “pedidrinker”

Ate in the Fox and Hounds the other week, the new menu and chef in the restaurant was great. The food was superb with a brilliant atmosphere however there was only one issue which was the old guy who served behind the bar. I can only assume he was the landlord and he was incredibly miserable and let the pub down. Otherwise fully recommended just try to avoid the guy with the beard!!

The post by Pizzadude appears on a few sites but under different names (see CJ-Oliver www.urbanspoon.com) which I find strange that they all used the same words. As for “the food (Stake Ale Pie)left me with indigestion for two days.” I suffer with very bad indigestion have done for years but allsorts cause it and to say it was a meal at the fox, perhaps he or they need to see the doctor. Pizzadude the definition for Dreary is “dull & Gloomy” we may be allsorts but any one that’s been to the fox will know it is far from that description. Give me a call pizzadude and I will do my best to make amends for your visit.

With the exception of Jimbo Smith, everyone else here has currently just a single review on BITE - this pub, so i decided to visit Shenstone to see what i thought. I didnt eat.

The exterior is a nice black and white painted brick. The interior has a smaller snug on two levels and an open plan lounge for dining. The decor in the snug is brick, beam and plain textured walls, with some old memorabilia and ornaments on the walls. It looks nice and tidy.

Service was fine, though he didnt seem the happiest of chaps. He poured me the wrong drink and replaced it without a quibble, evem when i offered to have it. The place felt like a locals pub, but this did not make me feel unwelcome. I enjoyed my visit.

Beer; usual tap stuff, with GK IPA, Abbotts Ale and Adnams Bitter. These were well kept, but are not really to my personal taste. No MILD.

The Plough has gone, the Railway is at best mediocre, leaving this pub as the best in the village.
