| I was a little apprehensive walking to the bar as the barman/governor looks like a hooligan (no insult intended). I was wrong to judge as he was very polite and accommodating. The pub has a pool table, dart board and a couple of plasma screens for showing Sky Sports. The pub sign outside also boasts of having a huge screen, but I did not see it so I’d imagine that it is in the large sparsely decorated back room. There is also a small paved drinking area out the back. I didn’t spot any real ale, but there is Hoegarden and standard lager. | As a hounslow drinker i must say the new investors have done a good job of lightening and cleaning this place up. Beer and Ale is more lively than before and staff give reasonably good service but are always polite, Only time will tell on the Shire but im confident itll go from strength to strength. good luck too the new management. thefruitbat - 9 Jul 2008 13:21 |
| Hi im Rob the new part owner of the shire horse in hownslow. new staff, new people. please note the comments about this pub on this site were made before i part owned this pub but will take all comments into consideration and will do my best to improve.the shire horse is the only late night licence in hounslow.the pub shuts on friday, saterday and sunday at 1am but on other days we will close at 11pm but if busy will close later.dj and party every friday.FRIDAY 13TH JUNE 2008 THE RETROBATES WILL BE PERFOMING LIVE.FREE ENTRY.EVERYONE WELCOME.HAPPY ATMOSPHERE.NO FOOLS WELCOME. rob_richards - 11 Jun 2008 19:40 |
| I went in to this pub for the first time in years, as i had heard that the it was under new management. I have to say i was suitably impressed. The new staff were friendly and very welcoming. The Kronenburg was the best pint i had had in a long time, and I went on to tell the new owner, who assured me that this was because the lines are regularly cleaned twice weekly. The decor of the place has completely changed and and it's fresh and clean. The most comfortable thing about the pub is that they make everyone, no matter what race colour or creed feel like they are the most important person in the pub. I have to say that my friends and i had been dubious about going at first, but it was the only pub in the area open, and i can safely say that we will be going back.
