Was closed due to fire in the Celler but was NEVER up to Let..Now reopened after a refurb...has been well done out..nice carpet and also now with a couple of flat screens..same grotty toilets though..(well the Gents is anyway)..so is this a new start for the old Friend in Hand..dont think so as it would appear that Harryoke bloke and his sad hangers on (groupies??) will also be back...O and of course someone has to pay for this...Yes you so a bit pricey (Fosters £2.90 a pint) Weatherspoons so only a few yards away (£2.29) bjbrummiejohn - 17 Jul 2008 07:19

RETURNED YET AGAIN TO THIS WONDERFUL IRISH MADHOUSE ON SUN NITE! A BIT QUIETER THAN LAST WEEK BUT NONE THE LESS ENTERTAINING! LITTLE LIZZIES RENDITION OF "BLANKET ON THE GROUND" HAS TO BE HEARD (and seen!) TO BE BELIEVED!! SOME REALLY GOOD IRISH MUSIC AND SONGS WASHED DOWN WITH GOOD GUINNESS. CANT WORK OUT JUST WHO IS THE GOV IN THIS PUB? I HAVE MET 2 SO FAR! Im TOLD THE NEW MANAGER IS CALLED "BILLY THE BOLLOCKS" WHAT A BRILLIANT NAME FOR A MANAGER OF A PUB FULL OF SUCH ECCENTRIC AND MOSTLY NICE MAD IRISH! I CANT WAIT TO MEET HIM. anonymous - 26 Jul 2007 16:18
Returned to the well last sun nite for the mad paddy karaoke by HARRYOKE. Had a good time with lots of laughs and plenty of craic! A few "over the top" drunks including the token thick cork man called Doney ?? silly name for a silly man! everyone else there were really nice and some were really good singers too. Manager Paul assisted "Doney" to the door and the night settled down without further incident. Malcolm from Antrim, the barman with the bowtie on my previous visit showed he was no one trick pony by singing "dance the night away" even though he appeared to be drinking Guinness for Ireland! And all without a safety net too! All in all a good night and I had to admit that the karaoke was as good as Malcolm had assured me. this little pub is well worth a visit. anonymous - 11 Jul 2007 19:50
