Unfortunately now closed (November 2010). Used to be a good pub - above-average food, nice Otter, welcoming atmosphere. bhayes - 3 Dec 2010 19:11
Far to pretentious. It's very much a food led dub, which tolerates drinkers, but the food is basic pub grub and rather overpriced. Dr_Pangloss - 14 Dec 2008 17:53
We have been to this pub many times over the last year and were really happy with the food, until our last visit in May 2007. The staff are lovely and the pub itself is great, but the food has definitely deteriorated. It is average pub food, but for gastro pub prices. And it was the first time we'd ever seen a steak and ale pie with out a 'pie'. Maybe they didn't have a chef that night, but they should have stopped serving food or at least dropped the prices! anonymous - 20 Jun 2007 16:48
Yes, I agree with yo-yo. It is very much a food pub, and judging by the menu perhaps a tad on the pricey side. There's no problem just dropping in for a beer though. Brahmsandliszt - 21 May 2007 15:09
According to drinkers at other pubs this place was a proper country boozer until refurbed with an emphasis on food and the local regulars now drinking at the Lamb and Flag in Blagdon Hill. Nonetheless I had an enjoyable pint there one afternoon. However, it did seem like a restaurant emphasis and not a place for dogs, farmers, and muddy boots. Pity. YoYo - 10 Dec 2006 14:49
