user reviews of the Beacon Way, Bloxwich

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Now been gutted and relaid out. Possibly the only thing to do with the old Nag's which would work, except demolition.
the gaffer seems to have the right idea and is keeping the chavs out in an effort to give it a new lease of life.
the pub is well laid out, the beer decent and it now does food. not as cheap as some in the area, but a million times better than the run down state of the old pub.
New name is the Beacon Way.

A Bloxwich couple's wedding plans have been left in tatters after discovering just five weeks before the big day that the venue they had chosen for their reception no longer exists.

John Brookes and his partner Debbie Faulkner booked the Nags Head pub in Stoney Lane, Little Bloxwich, back in January to celebrate their marriage on September 17 and handed over a £30 deposit.

But in a devastating blow the pair, from Mossley, have discovered that the pub has changed management at least twice since January and is to reopen as a restaurant.

The new owners cannot accommodate their celebrations and they are left with just five weeks to find somewhere for more than 100 guests.

Mr Brookes, aged 58, said the couple had been together for five years and for the majority of that time they had been engaged.

He said: "We made a decision at Christmas to get married this year and we have spent thousands of pounds on making sure everything is perfect for our wedding day.

"It's all booked, the dresses, the service, all the invitations have gone out and now we don't know what to do."

Mr Brookes said his 39-year-old fiancee was devastated and they only found out the venue had closed by chance.

He said: "We went to have a look and just check everything was alright. When we booked the Nags Head we were told it was being refurbished and we would have a nice newly-decorated room for our reception.

"But the pub seems to have changed hands at least twice since January to my knowledge and now everything is up in the air. I really don't know where to turn."

Mr Brookes put down a £30 deposit on the room and left his contact number in case of any problems.

He said: "The invitations went out months ago.

"I don't blame the new owners of the restaurant because it is not their fault."

The couple are now making a desperate plea for any other venues in the area who can swoop in to save the day.

Anyone who can help should call Mr Brookes on 01922 405808.

Used to be a good pub. Now full of people who can't get served anywhere else. The worst pub in the area by miles.
