| Excellent roast potatoes! Otherwise the food was fine and the service unexceptional - but I have had worse. The beer - Gales - was well kept and for a drinking pub this is a good place, but somehow the everything to do with the eating could just be a little better. Very characterful and full of history. | Probably more of a lager and ale pub than anything else - the missus suffered two different glasses of dreadful wine on our visit, and my Guinness was decidedly ropey. The inside of this pub smells a bit (smoke and stale lager), but shows some substantial history. The structure of the building imposes some very low beams in the front bar, thoughtfully cushioned for the imprudent. Mind yer bonce sir! loz - 1 May 2004 20:09 |
