Nearly missed this one, but walked down from the Hawkshead tap before catching the bus, and it is a real pub. Hadn't a lot of time, but enjoyed a Keswick beer. gillhalfpint - 8 Oct 2008 11:18
A great pub, tucked away from the bypass, but definately worth a stop. Four real ales on tap, good food and an atmosphere that's quite unique, especially when candlelit, as it is after dark. If you're heading into the Lake District, give yourself a treat and come off the Staveley bypass for this one! baggy212 - 15 Jul 2008 02:35
Glad to see this is still s great pub. I went in whilst on the Dalesway , it's a gem of a pub. Definately worth a detour to go to. mineisalandlord - 7 Mar 2008 17:15
fugsake - isn't there an edit button BITE? i'd like to change a 'where' for a 'were' and remove a 'what' goddamnit! matt_wilkins - 2 Jan 2008 17:30
when pubs where proper pubs this is what what proper pubs used to be like and occasionally still (and preferably) are, despite what mr chain pub likes to tell us. so, mr landlord please, make mine a foaming stoop of real ale brewed from brakish waters filtered by the peat of the moors - and i'll make yours a perfect TEN. matt_wilkins - 2 Jan 2008 17:28
