Called in on a sleepy Monday afternoon and found the pub pleasantly patronised. Wonderful traditional pub, very friendly atmosphere. Oakham's Scarlet Macaw was on, as well as a few others, and was in fine fettle at a bargain £2.20

Highly recommended.

Report from Glossop Pub Crawl on 03.05.2014: excellent pub right next door to Glossop train station. Had Moorhouses White Mist which was very good.
The pub is traditional and comfortable in style, and is well recommended.

when in Glossop we always call in to the Star as it is very convenient for the train
station, the pub always has a good selection of real ales on tap and are always on
top form.
always a pub to call into if you are in Glossop.

The best pub in Glossop for real ale by a mile. Great selection served in great condition. Don't do food though.

What I would describe as a "classic" real ale pub and certainly by far the best in Glossop. Knowledgeable bar staff who are always happy to give you a taster of the real ales that are on, usually 4 or so plus real cider.
