Visited at the weekend. I did not have any beer to drink - but the wine was good. AND - luscious food! What really impressed were the lunch offerings. Starters were very nice - mushroom, and 'black pudding and bacon'. Scrumptious. Two main courses for £10. Home-made pies, delightful liver and bacon - and all with fresh veg that tasted as if it had been picked that morning!
Service throughout was exemplary.
Very much appreciated - thanks!
Note that they cook to order, so there is a bit of a wait [20 minutes, perhaps] between ordering and eating - whilst the food cooks, plainly. But the wait is 'soooo' worth it!
I have already recommended this pub to friends/colleagues for the food.
As I didn't sample the Shephed Neame beers, none of us did, it would be unfair to rate above an eight; the food is worth a good nine - but food is not the only thing in a pub, as many reading this will know.
If in Hythe - I will return!

We visited the pub with grandparents & children on Fathers day, to be honest, we were not expecting too much, what with it being fathers day. However, we had a superb lunch. Alll the meals were hot, tasty, well presented, arrived together and plentiful.
The staff were very accommodating regarding our childrens meals, and were happy to bring these out first. Our children are fussy eaters, but tucked in happily.
The beer (apparently) was good! And I can vouch for the wine being nice.
It was our 1st visit to Hythe and would definately visit the area to explore and stop off again at the Kings Head.

unfriendly. didnt appreciate the looks you receive from locals and staff alike when you walk in, as if, who the hell is this in our pub! and then to be treated like i was from another plant wasnt necessary. there is a life outside hythe, with people of all sorts of colours and sizes, you all must venture out.
