Went here for the second time since the summer just after Christmas. What a change! Seems the rummer is that the landlords have split and the Yank has left! The food was 'different' and there was just something missing. We did not have a great time even the landlady seemed more interested in giving orders than taking them. This summer it was just so much better! We are planning to be back in the spring to this lovely area... but will be giving the JE a miss. Shame as it was such nice place.

This is a fine little pub which is well worth a stroll to from nearby Bigbury on Sea or Challaborough. Was great to find a relaxed, not too busy pub and a hot summer's Saturday afternoon when the nearby resorts are so busy. Food seemed good and the beer garden is a real bonus when the weather is good.

We satyed in Challaborough Bay and walked upto this pub on our last evening, shame as it was bloody excellent. Friendly staff, great food and nice ale. What more do you want from a pub?Try it

We visited the Journey's End based on the reviews here.

It's a lovely pub, although there are nicer ones nearby. We booked for dinner and were pleased to be informed that the menu wasn't yet available as the Chef prepares a fresh menu each night.

However, we ended up waiting almost an hour for our food - although when it arrived it was worth waiting for. The staff were apologetic and gave us a free pint while we were waiting, so it's not a major gripe (and we were in no rush to leave anyway).

I think we caught them on a particularly busy week night, so I'd certainly been keen to go back.

Worth a visit - esp. if you want to take your dog along - but there are nicer pubs in that part of the world (e.g. Dolphin Inn at Kingston).

Just had dinner there tonight. The steak was just perfect. this is a pub worth going to and spending all day tasting teh real ales on gravity feed . The ones that I sampled were well cared for and just thr right temperature. Paul the landlord is an American and seems to actually know the brews... which for an American is strange. Both he and his wife Julie are welcoming and will do what they can to help plan your walks in the local area.

This pub is a must go to in my book! I will be sending everyone I know here. At the moment they are not doing rooms, but it they tell me that they are redecorating right now. The local B& B Aymer House is wonderful and Pauls was right about their breakfasts there... huge!

But the JE is a wonderful rural pub with all the charm that a place like this should have. The Landlords should be proud of what they have done. The locals tell me that since they took the place over at the end of July last year, the pub has never been better.

Be careful for Friday nights though. It is locals night and they all seem to be there at the same time! But you are always made to feel welcome by all.

The food is wonderful and affordable and well presented! This pub is a must!!!
