user reviews of the Bell, Shottery

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Unwelcoming and unfriendly. My son had a tantrum in there and we were told if he didn’t stop we would have to leave as he was annoying the other customers.
I was shot dirty looks from across the bar by the landlord!
I used to often go to the Bell before I had a child, however I won’t be doing so again.
If pubs don’t want children on their premises then they should state that clearly, not make me feel so uncomfortable that I have to leave.
My meal was nice, however I ordered off the childrens menu and was surprised that the childrens dish I ordered did not come with any vegetables, expecially when there is such a focus on this.
I have no problems with pubs excluding familes if they wish to do so, however don’t market yourself as a local family friendly village pub with a childrens menu if this is not the reality.
The pub must have changed hands It has been over 2 years since I last went there, it always was a friendly and welcoming place to go… now it isn’t!

Good food and a selection of Greene King beers. A nice pub but often busy due to its proximity to Anne Hathaways cottage.

Has been refurbished since some of the earlier comments and no longer has the tvs and has returned to the relaxed atmosphere.

Quite a nice pub. Still hangs onto it's village pub atmosphere by the skin of it's teeth. Good beer and the food isn't too bad either.

Lovely pub!

The pub has been around for years and has, successfully, changed hands in that time. It has just changed hands to a new landlord - from September 2003 - who, I feel sorry to say, has not improved the once flourishing pub. Many past regulars have noticed a significant change in the atmosphere and feel it has been down-graded. This is just my opinion however.
