I am some what disappointed by some of the comments made below. After drinking in the Crown for 17+ years & working there for a number of those on a part time basis under various managers, I can hand on heart say that those who have made these scathing remarks still to this day frequent the pub when there is football on & also continue to make an incredible mess. Just as they did when I was behind the bar! How hard can it be to bring an empty glass back when requiring further refreshments? It certainly helps the staff out when it’s busy. As for moving the furniture around! Put it back where you found it when you leave! There is nothing wrong with the current manager. He is very polite, friendly & has a great sense of humour, but it is very dry, so be warned.

Yes Sally is still there as is Dot. They are both part of the furniture.

I have been (was) a regular for 6 years until recently, the landlord overstepped the mark more than I was prepared to accept. I'm disappointed but if rude, surly cusotmer service and an obsession regarding returning your empties (which I thought was the bar staff's job?!) or mvoing chairs is a warm welcome he can keep it

I get the impression he doesn't want the custom of his regulars unless they are over fifty. And he is there to run this pub into the ground prior to it being sold for housing.

I was sad to read the previous review. Isn't the lovely Sally still working there? and the other Barmaids whose names I have forgotten (Forgive me please). I hope mc mullens haven't balls up this pub they way they normally do.

Having been a regular of this particular pub for ten years im extremely disappointed in how badly this pub has fallen under its new clientele.

The landlord has no idea how to be courteous to his many customers who in the past have always been treated with good spirits and made to feel welcome by the more than friendly bar staff who have been serving in this establishment for many a year
(over ten i would wager as i have been attending this pub for that many years).

Yes i was once a big fan of this place but unfortunately its fall from grace has finally arrived and its a shame that mcmullens saw fit to ruin this fine pub by putting someone without a clue in management in charge.

bring back tel!!!
