This pub is more of an eatery than an ale house. The decor is new and very nice.
It's a Free House with 4 real ales which were drinkable but far from perfect.

The food wasn't brilliant either, an allegedly spicy bean burger which wasn't spicy at all with under-cooked chips, my lasagne was excellent but the garlic bread was hardly toasted and the tomato with the side salad was green. Doesn't seem worth it when there's a Wetherspoons a few minutes walk away.

A little more attention to detail would make this a good pub.

Went with some colleagues just before Christmas and opted for the Christmas set menu - never again! Sliced white bread is not an appropriate accompaniment for prawn cocktail. Turkey was dry and tasteless - reconstituted stuff, not fresh meat, stuffing was out of a packet, sprouts undercooked, "new" potatoes dry and boring. Good roast spuds though! Christmas pudding clearly bought in, and almost certainly heated in a microwave. Does the chef actually make ANYTHING from scratch, or does it all originate from a packet/tin? Barmaid didn't appear to know what sherry is, and denied stocking any (incorrectly, as it turned out). Great decor, but alas that doesn't make up for a heroically bad meal.

Has been refurbished yet again since we last called in, that’s twice in the last couple of years. Now has a more open feel about it even though the layout hasn’t changed. It’s effectively one big room with a small raised seating area to the left as you enter and another larger area which is full of dining tables and chairs straight ahead. To the right is another large seating area with some high stools and tables and the bar. The bar has been open up as well and the glass racks above it have gone. There are 4 handpumps with a pretty mainstream selection of Pedigree, Black Sheep bitter and something so uninteresting that I can’t remember what it was, plus St Austell Tribute. I had a pint of the Tribute which was pretty good and the other half assures me that the red wine was good as well. It’s getting back to where it was a few years ago, definitely on the up.

Was closed, some dodgy owners done a bunk and waiting for a new company to run it

Pretty good pub, especially if you have visitors that might not like the pokey little places (My personal favourite!) One of the only places to get decent food in Tod 7 days per week. Good choice of beers, OK wine selection as well.
