| The longstanding, longsuffering Old Bar. :o) Every student of Leeds Uni has to have a drink in here, and it's a place that has seen some epic sessions. There are three entrances to the Old Bar (plus one unofficial entrance, but we'll keep that quiet), all of which point you towards the long bar. Unusually for a student drinking den, there are some rather good real ales, including Theakston's Best and XB, amongst a couple of others. Three main seating areas are provided to cope with the masses; a large area near to the servery (to the left of the bar, serving a palatable chicken curry & chips), a section directly opposite the bar, and a non-smoking 'snug', hidden past the servery. The amusing video jukebox has now gone, but the tunes are largely pretty good rock & indie, with a selection of hits thrown in for good measure. Beware seating during the week at lunchtime - brush the chips (and fields of spilt salt) off first! Well, I like it, but I'm biased 'cos I spent most of my degree there. ;o) Andy - 17 Mar 2004 14:53 |
