| Went to the Didsbury as the new fish restaurant was not opening until 14th July. It was slightly busy when we arrived (6:30pm Thursday), but found a table for 4. The table had been cleaned but wasn't. We ordered the food 1 starter and 4 mains. The kids mains turned up after 30 mins followed by my and my partners main. I informed the server that I had not had my starter yet and she simply turned her back and went to the kitchen. My starter was a Chicken bruschetta (a special dish of the day - apparently). The chicken was extremely dry and the simple to make red chilli sauce was obviously out of a bottle. I asked the server if this dish was of a typical standard and his reply was 'that's the way it comes'. When my main arrived (fish and chips with mushy peas) if was obvious that it was the same main incorrectly served earlier and had just been reheated - how I'd wished that the fish restaurant was open :( The Didsbury will really have to up its game if it wants to compete with its neighbouring restaurant. | I liked The Didsbury, but i'm not sure if i like it as much these days, i went in a few weeks on a Saturday night and it was virtually empty and devoid of any atmosphere, but to be fair it was at 11:30 and perhaps most of the customers went on into Manchester or Fallowfield. reallifeperson - 3 May 2008 19:18 |
