Following the news that this pub had been given a total renovation and was also owned now by the Westerham Brewery, we thought we'd give it a try. Very impressed we were too. Three hand pumps, one session, one premium and one strong - seems like common sense to me but why doesn't everybody do this? There were a few lagers and the like too...........and a strawberry beer (WTF??). The food was excellent - not particularly cheap but the prices seemed right for the quality - the haddock and chips was spot on. The service was very good and very friendly, the decor bright & cheery, and the loos had been done very well too. There are one or two bits of decorating to finish, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this and we will be returning before long. We all concluded it would make a great place to stop for a quick pint and a bit of lunch after a walk or cycle ride on the Chart. Congratulations!! tlucas644 - 18 Apr 2012 07:45
As of April 2012 this pub is now run by The Westerham brewery. They serve a range of Westerham Ales, Belgian beers and genuine craft brewed lagers. They offer a good range of homecooked food, but as I turned up on a Monday, I was unable to sample. Check out Westerham Brewery website for more details. CaskMaster - 11 Apr 2012 13:26
Called in the other day. Friendly enough place. Westerham's British Bulldog was excellent. Stowford Press, likewise. Wish I hadn't been driving dan76uk - 25 Oct 2011 11:56
Village green pub popular with walkers and classic car fans. Building is in a lovely location but could do with some TLC, the small garden is a real sun-trap on a summer afternoon. Black sheep and Adnams on, both OK, not great. Just a simple pub-type menu available, food was fine but service was a tad slow. alan_From_SAWW - 28 Mar 2011 11:06
Previous lady could have taken a bus into Oxted taking 10 minutes. Also, being a local, it takes a maximum of an hour to walk to town and that's at a leisurely pace! So she expected the chef to stay on to cook meals for 2 adults and 2 children and be paid the extra time, probably an hour I'd say at £12 to £15 an hour. How much would their meals have cost I wonder, and the profit from those I can assure you wouldn't even have covered chefs wages - get in the real world and plan you country walks better. paulelvis - 13 Jan 2010 20:16
