| The new landlord and landlady have certainly turned this pub around from the cliquey, almost 'members only' pub that it was. the food is astounding - Dave is a genius in the kitchen. Maybe the food is a little pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for, no reheated/microwaved convenience foods, this is proper home cooked, amd most importantly, FRESH, food. (The Crown, take note....) I have been singing this pubs' praises to all my friends.. Heather and Alec given the pub a welcoming aura, which had been sadly lacking for many years, and this is now my pub of choice in Edenbridge. Top Beer garden too! Highly recommended! | Alec the landlord, is a smashing bloke and knows how to run a decent pub, the food is out of this world as the chef is properly trained and not some McDonald's throwback and cooks everthing fresh, he will even cater for Vegetarians if needed. I have paid 4 times as much in top restaurants in London and been disappointed, you have to come here and try the food. It has a lovely little beer garden, and the music is better than in most pubs. The hand dryer in the gents was made for dwarves, but I suppose it would be good at drying the pubic hair if the need arose..... All in all, one of the best little pubs I have been to in years.... codpiece_1 - 31 Jul 2008 13:27 |
| The King and Queen is one of many pubs along the main high street in Edenbridge but easily the nicest to look at, with it's cottage-like appearance, it is a building full of character and rich in history. The decor inside can only be described as typical olde-wolde - odd furniture, uneven floors and wooden beams on the ceiling. It's cosy and the leather sofas are very inviting, so much so that it would be dangerous to sit there after one too many ales! Alec the Landlord is very friendly and larger-than-life, he greets all of this customers personally and makes sure that their every need is catered for. Dave, his friend of many years is employed as the chef and his wife Heather is the co-owner and always seems to be rushing around making sure everything is running smoothly. There is a wide selection of beers and ales available and the food is all home-cooked and the portions generous. This pub has managed to keep its locals for many years as well as acquiring many new loyal customers. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the food. I would recommend the King and Queen to anyone who likes nothing but to have a good time. Fitzy1982 - 9 Jul 2008 12:33 |
| Popped in for a pint on Tuesday night and to see if the pub has changed since the last landlady, and couldn't believe how warm and welcoming the new landlord and landlady are! The food was recommended by a local in the town as well as they have a top cook in there now. So I booked for Sunday lunch and today took the 'in-laws' down. The food was outstanding and was swiftly served and was beautifully presented. Roast Pork with freshly made succulent stuffing balls and a medley of vegetables ,with freshly made yorkshire puddings (nicked one off the 'in-laws' plate - thumbs up). And freshly made apple crumble for afterwards. Add to that good wine and decent ales, this is going to second home for me with excellent food, good service, and decent ales, and an atmosphere that will relax you and make you feel special. Didnt have a pool table or dart board , but that makes it more attractive to most. Mr.Lizard - 27 Apr 2008 20:18 |
| Absolutely top friendly service and the food......., felt like I was in a top restaurant when the food turned up. This pub has changed hands recently and not knowing how crap it was before, it certainly has got to be on the top pub food guide this year. Keep it up landlord, I will be a regular, good ales and good cheap food to die for! Babybadger - 27 Apr 2008 17:02 |
