During our 2 weeks in the UK, this was by far the best pub we visited. We loved the food, the ale and the lady who served our meal. We had an interesting conversation with her about the pub' s history and her own. We look forward to returning! billerica - 25 Jan 2011 17:29
Unfriendly locals in Chav Central You can spot them a mile away, HE... thin white pasty faced, fag hanging, baseball cap, tatty sportswear SHE...16, fat, pushing pram, bawling brats, has a fag and coke outside Three Cooks Bakery ( how come a bakery that doesn't sell bread !! ) then over the road to Post Office to collect child benefit, then a kebab and a jumbo bag of crisps as a salad from Tesco. This Edenbridge lot make the local pikeys look hollywood gliteratti. The King & Queen is an OK pub in an otherwise depressing town. qualityhound - 9 Jul 2010 12:07
Popped in while in Edenbridge. Ordered a Pinot Grigio wine, 1/2 Spitfire, and a small Lemonade. The price was £9.95. Bar staff seemed friendly, but talk about ripping off the tourists. Had thought of eating in here, but decided against it in case I might have to remortgage the house. kgilson - 30 May 2010 11:31
4 of us visited the pub on a Sunday afternoon. I was please to see how it had been renovated (I have not visited the pub in nearly 20 years) and liked the atmosphere. That is the good bit, the bad was the condition of the beer. All of us rejected the first beer selected Sheps St Georges day guest. The barmaid cheerfully changed the beers for others but they were no better and we left leaving most of our beers undrunk not wishing to create problems for the duty staff by rejecting yet more of the beer. It is such a shame that a basic as serving drinkable ale is so sadly lacking when so much appeared to be right KentishScot - 11 May 2009 12:50
