Bit too gloomy insde and in need of a spring clean. Weirdly they had run out of beer when I last visited (and Gin) but that was a couple of months ago. Courtyard out back populated by smokers, some of the B&B rooms overlook this area so they probably get a bit noisy.

We stayed there one Saturday night. The room was excellent. Clear, bright and tidy. Breakfast the next day was very good and all in all we did far better, and for less money, than we would have in a Travelodge or similar.

I can't say what it's like as a boozer as we went to a party on the Saturday night and apart from a quick pint when we arrived, didn't drink there, but as a place to stay I'd recommend it every time.

looks like a nice old rustic country pub when you first walk in but the plastic table cloths make it look like a 70's greasy spoon diner. Food was cheap and good. Beer... well, Pedigree ran out and was off anyway, Guinness then ran out which left Ringwood old Thumper at 5.6%, hmmm.

The Crown is a nice pub with a cosy atmosphere. The decor is sort of rustic and olde worlde which adds a bit of character. I have been there quite a few times on a Friday lunchtime and I must say that I enjoy it. There is a nice beer garden out the back, although it is all paved with no grass it is still comfy. I always get good cheerful service from the bar staff, especially from Karen, who always has time for a smile and hello for the customers. All in all I would recommend this pub for a visit.

Don't know much about the previous history of this pub but didn't think much of it when walked in. Everybody just stopped what they were doing and just stared..! Not much in the way of ale and very dirty and dusty inside. Passed a skip full of old smelly mattresses on the way in. And the front door was boarded up.. don't know why I came in here actually.. left and quickly found the very lovely leicester arms in penshurst..
