The good point about this pub is the food. It is actually not too bad. The beer is okish but the bar staff seem to be biased against anyone over 40 !. It is possible to grow a reasonable beard waiting to be served. Decor is ok but as with any chain pub you could be in any of them - there is not much charm or uniqueness...

Strange things are happening at this pub. The junior staff have taken over - and no one is managing. As a result, egotistical paranoia rules in the main. Attitude of staff and in particular the manager is at times bizarre. There is a tension in the air and it no longer feels like a family pub - merely a teenagers drinking den.

I'm not one for generally posting reviews but I felt I just had to after the dismal "meal" we had last night. We spent £14 on "haddock" - more like a big fish finger, in fact, that's an insult to fish fingers! As for my OH's "game pie" with crusty (oh yes) "mash" with fork imprints - I would imagine you get better food in prison!

The barman asked us if "everything was ok" and out of character for us we replied "no, not at all, that has to be the worst meal we've ever had, anywhere", alas, he skulked off back behind the bar and that was the end of that.

We went merrily (thanks to empty stomachs) on our way home for some toast!

good barstaff, good food, good clientele, good selection of drink, though feels a little like a hotel lobby
