Dropped in the other evening, had a pint of 'Doom Bar' - all good no problems there. The only real problem was the appalling lack of service. Once they had finished their little conversation in the back room behind the bar, one of them decided it was probably a good idea to see if anyone was waiting!! Nothing has changed in the 'service' respect since the last post 2YEARS AGO!!! But the pub does have a great atmosphere. 4/10 from me, purely because of the service (Or lack of it!!!). SORT IT OUT MR/MRS MANAGER!!! Your service is a disgrace!

I called in on a lunchtime to find no one behind the bar, and customers waiting. This included a party of six with a reserved table. When eventually a person emerged from the back, the reservation could not be found.
When all had been served, a I finished my drink, six further staff then emerged as I was leaving!

My husband and I went here a few months ago and were very disappointed. The atmosphere was ruined for the lack of lighting and cleanliness...dust everywhere. The food was not well prepared and when we brought this to their attention, we were totally dismissed. We were asked 'well did the waitress ask you if the meal was alright' and we responded with the truth...we couldn't understand her. The staff is all Polish and we had great difficulty understanding them. So we ordered our less than enjoyable meal, left, and less than 5 hours later both my husband and I were sick with what appeared to be food poisoning! I would definitely not recommend The Wheatsheaf and suggest you drive past as quickly as possible!

Been here many times and as previous reviewers have noted, it is pretty much a lottery. Food has always been OK but nothing special. Service - again depends on who you get but is generally prompt and friendly.

As long as everything is going swimmingly, you will have no problems here but if something slightly out of the ordinary occurs or you want something slightly beyond the normal call of duty, you are snookered.

After a decent main meal, I ordered cheese and crackers which came with an assortment of cheese and crackers (naturally) but also walnuts, grapes and apple. Imagine my surprise then when I was served a piece of cheddar the size of a house brick with some basic crackers and a few grapes but minus the nuts and apple. I explained this to the waiter (of Eastern European origin) and from his reaction, you think I had just asked him for griffin on toast. I'm not sure what the Polish for apple is but once he'd grasped the issue, he told me that they didn't have any apples in his 'part' of the kitchen and he scuttled away.

I ploughed into the cheese, the half a dozen grapes nowhere near providing enough moisture, when the waiter pops up with an apple. Not sliced, not on a plate, he could have plucked the thing from a tree in the pub garden but at least I had my apple. I didn't notice a walnut tree in the garden so I didn't go there!

A decent experience apart from that, and it's been OK on previous visits, but if you see a Polish chap walking about with an apple, you know what has happened. 4/10.

i dined at this pub the other night and found the atmosphere to be great. the staff are always on hand to help me with anything that i need. They went out of their way to serve me and my girlfriend. We arrived and were greeted by a member of staff, they showed us to a table and took a drink order for us. The drinks arrived minutes later. By that time we were ready to order. I had the chicken paprika which was fantastic, my partner had the sirloin steak which was cooked to her liking. We had a great evening and will be returning in the near future. Great Night!!!!
