Sorry to be an anorak but it's a 'B' road in the middle of Dartmoor: B3212 darkestdevon - 30 Oct 2009 20:19
A superb rest-break on the A3212 on one's Dartmoor excursions. The Ploughman's lunch is wholly recommended - the Cornish Yarl is exceptional, when coupled with the ham. The beer is well kept and was served at the correct temperature upon our visit this weekend. The pub was busy, as one would expect on an albeit squally July afternoon, but the service was efficient. We were on a busy schedule, so our visit was brief. The visitor with children would be wise to note that the landlady / bartender is tough on enforcing their licensing obligations in that no under 14s are allowed in the main bar area. There are side rooms a-plenty but it would be worthy to either get there late or early for lunch... Overall, excellent. kingdingaling - 19 Jul 2009 23:34
Lovely pub. We both had a ploughman's which was delicious and most of the other people eating their lunch also had a plougman's! I liked the way that they asked your name when you ordered food and shouted it out when delivering your lunch! Wonderful spot to have lunch and look out over Dartmoor. anneliese - 19 Jul 2009 22:51
Ideally situated as a stopping-off point after a day's avoiding sheep dung. A true traveller's rest. An extra point for pushing the boat out a bit by specialising in some very rare malt whiskeys too. And yes, WATCH THE ROAD! getsit - 24 May 2009 12:06
Lovely pub in a great setting- either sitting outside admiring the view in summer or huddling by the fire in the winter. Only downside is the food- avoid the burger, same standard as school dinners. steve_on_tour - 22 Nov 2008 18:16
