Great little pub. Two bars, friendly barman. Only GK beers on, but always well kept. Good sized meals all home cooked. tpfirt - 5 Jan 2011 20:04
Now this is a real pub. I have not visited it for some years, but on returning a few Saturdays ago I was not disappointed. I entered the public bar to be greeted by smiling locals and a roaring log fire. Making my way to the bar I was greeted by the friendly barman; who appeared to have a huge personality, but only one tooth. I knew then that all was well. This place was full of laughter and happy people. Sadly I could only stay for one pint of bitter; the name of which escapes me, but it was it excellent condition. This is a great summer pub too; with its elevated garden and labyrinth of bird cages (all of which looked very healthy and well looked after). The other bar was frequented mainly by people eating meals; for which I will return in the near future. pedantnic - 6 Apr 2010 19:05
Not shut. Just shut when the person below visited (closed between 3.00 and 5.30 Monday to Thursday). It's a shame when ill-informed people make life harder for small out of the way country pubs by implying that they are closed down in these already difficult times. I won't comment on the rating as I work there (so know it's open). But as for the previous comments it's unlikely you'll see Chesney Hawkes there, though his family are local and I know his cousin. Also used to be frequented by Noel Edmonds and Fluff Freeman. (Bryants Bottom, Crinkly Bottom... have to ask him yourself but seems to add up to me). Great in summer time for large garden, new children's play area, and large aviaries. Cozy in winter for real open fires. Real ales are Abbot, IPA (Greene King), and Speckled Hen. Also have IPA smooth, Ruddles, Fosters, Carling, Stella, Blackthorne, Strongbow, Guinness (extra cold). Prices from £2.60 - £3.05. (Oct '09) Food is traditional pub food, pretty wide selection, reasonably priced and generous portions. So if you like desserts just have a starter and dessert. Most main mails around £8 (Oct '09) Function room is available around £10.50/head for a buffet and just under £20/head for 3-course sit-down meal. Can manage about 50 people for a buffet and 40 for a sit-down meal. Disco or solo-performer are licenced but not a full band. illyade - 25 Oct 2009 22:55

Cosy, warm and welcoming, good reasonably priced Sunday lunch. Rather nice to eat outside too on a warm summers day. Recommended pub. LadyLiz - 30 Nov 2008 12:13
