Went on a girlie weekend to Watergate in June and spent a lot of time here. Really chilled out place. But above all it has amazing food, didn't think this was possible in Cornwall (sorry if this offends any locals!). And a great looking head chef as well – who all the girls in my party really fancied!! Think he was called Simon? Check him out...ohh and his food. lollylully - 9 Jul 2008 15:38
Went here on a Wednesday night in late June. Staff very friendly. Food and views upstairs were great. The two Cornish ales I tired were also nice. Went downstairs after we ate, and they had an 'open mike' night. Apart from one bloke, who was tolerable, the rest of the performaces were some of the worst I've ever heard. Being a surfer area, they seemed to be a few local Jack Johnson (who isn't someone I'd want to aspire to) wannbees, but all really bad. Even worse, from all the smug self-satsified back slapping that was going on afterwards, these people actually thought they were good. However, in spite of all this, I actually found these poor performances rather amusing and had an enjoyable night overall. spencers - 3 Jul 2008 13:37
At first viewing this looks like any other surfer pub. A second glance seems to confirm this status. Go upstairs though and you'll find wonderful views over the bay and ..... the best food we've experienced in a restaurant let alone a pub. Now, I'm not saying surfers don't like good food - but this really took us by surprise. I would even consider the six and a half hour journey there for another fabulous steak, or the amazing scallops and sea bass, light as a feather duck wontons...I'm salivating at the thought! Get there quick before this wonderful young chef is poached (no pun intended) by a top restaurant. By the way, the toilets were spotless and the staff a pleasure. Stop reading now and get in the car!!! slee22 - 7 May 2008 17:17
