| Not as upmarket as many of the pubs around Chiswick, which is no bad thing. Good range of Fullers Ales, but the service is a bit patchy. Getting for a receipt was a tricky affair and when they told me to return for it in 10 mins, I think they (wrongly) assumed I wouldn't bother. However, there's lots of room and various nooks and crannies in which you can feel fairly cosy with your group. I don't generally drink wine in a pub myself, but bought one for someone else and it was £4.35 for a 175ml glass. This struck me as expensive, but perhaps I'm out of date on that.... | Upon my visit to the George IV I found 4 barmaids behind the bar. One was cleaning cutlery whilst another two were counting stock and the forth was having trouble using the till. After about four minutes of me standing there like a mug a local that was waiting for his whisky to be topped up lost his patience and shouted at them. A stunned barmaid approached and asked if I wanted anything. I asked for a half of Carling and was served a pint. The usual lagers were available along with ESB, Pride, London Porter and Discovery. There was a very nice display of Pride bottles, cups and glasses behind the bar, but I wonder how long the punters had to wait to be served whilst it was erected. It’s a very big pub with a patio garden and some seating outside at the front. At the back of the pub there are some stairs leading skywards which I think had more seating. There is a raised area at the front between the entrances with some tables and chairs at the windows. A bonus was that they do have a dart board. Apart from the staff being oblivious to the customers I quite like this pub, even though £3.15 for a pint of Carling is a little dear. Strongers - 25 Apr 2008 13:41 |

| Crap.Went to see a mates band in the back room on a Thursday night a while back - so far so good - only problem was the Big tosser Aussie barman who started coming around at 11:10pm snatching peoples (Full) pints that they had literally bought from HIM 5-10 minutes earlier and still LEGALLY had 10 minutes left to drink - he threatened one (Now very famous ) musician with violence for refusing to give up his pint - at which point someone who shall remane nameless stuck the nut on the Aussie Mug and he had his nose split open.A joyous occasion. anonymous - 12 Sep 2007 03:35 |
