When the barmaid asked me for 3.50 for a pint of bitter i walked out. Absolute rip off.

Cresta Court public bar now open for business again after a serious revamp. It must be the newest and smartest bar in Altrincham. The decor is a world away from what it used to be. Top class, hope the service improves though.

The public bar is (obviously) open to non-residents (not meaning you don't live in Alty). The boddies is usually excellent here. The downside to it is that it has tried it's best to turn away custom! The service is SLOW. Usually one person behind the bar despite the night. It seats 100+ but it normally has 6 customers during the weekday evening.(average age of 60) It's busy when you get 7 and a dog! They put the prices up to the public meaning that a pint of boddies is something silly like 2.45. However regualars can get their mitts on a 'loyalty' card (it'd have to be undying mental kamikaze loyalty really) to get that pint for 1.86.

The public bar is now closed (23/01/2004) for a refit and there is another bar open to the public where most (4) of the regulars have transferred. It gets a bit cramped in there now, just waiting for the trendy refit that will go down with the current (60 years+) clientel.

I just go in for the Fawlty Towers nostalgia and the decent boddies.
