Has been taken over, minus the charm. I asked if they still did live music on a Sunday night. "Nah, I stopped that when I took it over," he said, like it was something depraved that he'd dutifully stamped out. moozer - 6 Oct 2008 17:19
Haven't visited the Eldon for a few months, was always a Sunday lunch fan. It is under new management again and this time there seemed to be something missing. The place was clean and the beer was well kept but the bloke behind the bar was sour and seemed to be having a tiff with his wife, the music was awful, and the general ambience seems to have vanished. We only stayed for one drink. Recently it has been a quirky, vibrant place. Perhaps the new people will take a leaf from the previous owner's book and chill a little - god knows this area needs a proper little boozer like that amongst all the stuffy wine bars. Still, with the turnover of management at this gem of a pub we'll only have to wait a year or two for the next attempt. Mark_Phillips - 13 Aug 2008 18:29

I think the reviewer below must be in a different pub! We have always found the hospitality and quality of food to be more than satisfactory. There is always a friendly smile behind the bar and the beers are kept in excellent condition. I have been to The Eldon a few times on a Sunday night for music recently and have been thoroughly impressed with the exceptional standard. Good work everyone. LittleMissCheevus - 19 Apr 2008 19:20
How disapointing to have been here a couple of times since renovation and this time our meal was truly awful. Once again this gem of a pub has become dirty and the wine was lukewarm along with the food, The service was lack lustre and the smell of smoke confirmed the worst...people had been smoking in the bar! colstonview - 16 Feb 2008 09:33
