What a contrast to the Rose and Crown over the road.Very quiet, 70's décor with a lot of clutter that you would find in your attic. St Austell proper job at £3.60 was expensive.

Everything a pub ought to be - cosy and welcoming. In an era characterised by crass attempts at refurbishment, this is a rare thing. May this place never change. It would be a crime to visit the Rose and Crown and miss out on a pint or two here.

Great cosy pub slightly overshadowed by the magnificent Rose and Crown up the road. I want to live on this street!

Small frontage pub on a cozy narrow street with the Rose and Crown further along. Enjoyed a very nicely kept Brains' Rev James sat in the front of the pub. Personable landlord said good evening on entry.

It has one long room going past the bar on the right halfway down. Traditionally styled, it seems to be broken up into niches/alcoves which are very well lit and there are newspapers around to read with one or two punters sat around doing just that; a nice way to relax after work. The television over the door was on quietly and I would guess this would normally be a quiet place. Hurray.

Nice place to start a pub crawl of Oxford as it is only a short walk in via St Giles.

Pleasant older-style, heavy-curtained pub with friendly bar-folk. Interesting framed photographs on the walls. Piano in the corner. The afternoon was nice and quiet as the sound on the telly was turned down and the games machines were not in use. The pub may be better enjoyed by your older person. Good quality offerings of Aspall’s cyder and Tyrrells varieties of crisps. Spotless toilets. Perhaps the two nearby pubs of the same name could differentiate themselves in the use of an apostrophe in Gardeners Arms: it is Oxford, after all!
