Great pub for 1 drink or a long night.
It has fresh, modern decor that brightens the place yet still has that traditional british pub feel you want.
They have plenty of places to sit and a great fire place feature in the middle of the building.

Excellent value pub grub,i'd recommend the homemade burgers in particular!
Staff were very attentive and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work and serve there.

All in all a great little find in Rickmansworth and definitely worth a visit.

I have never visited Rickmansworth before but I had to choose a pub to meet a business contact in. Looking on this site the choice looked dire; so I simply chose the one closet to the station. Fortunatly it turned out to be a very pleasurable choice.

The Fox and Hounds has recently been refurbished and modernised; but not so modernised that it lost it's traditional feel. It has a small front bar and an open fire between the front and rear bar. There are also steps down to a lower bar with large dining tables. By the conversation in the bar I think I visited on the first day after the refurbishment; lighting the open fire seemed to be a new experience for the staff. (Invest in some 'seasoned logs' and make life easier!)

There were three real ales on during my visit; Ruddles, Doombar and another that I cannot remember. I sampled the Ruddles and several pints of the Doombar. These beers were presented in excellent condition; absolutley spot on.

Young, helpful and polite bar staff and amicable landlord who was followed around by two huge but friendly dogs. I also found the locals friendly and very chatty; they made me feel most welcome and not like an outsider. I spent a comfortable early evening two hours in this pub and I could have quite happily have stayed all night. I will certainly return next time I find myself in Rickmansworth and I am very pleased to recommend this pub to real ale drinkers.

This pub has got to have the rudest landlord I have ever had the misfortune to meet. With so many good pubs closing this is one establishment that should consigned to history, let hope the landlord does not pop up at any of the other locals.

Good, friendly place to watch sport, the garden is much improved and pleasant on a sunny night.

if this is the pub near marks and spencers forget it.. full of old alkies and drugged up yobs looking for a fight... I walk past this one very fast indeed as there are always scumbags hanging outside the door beer in one hand fag in the other..(if it isnt the one near marks sorry for the mistake!!)
