I live in Camberwell and it's got a few decent bars but this certainly isn't one of them ... the music quite frankly is awful seemingly at all times but especially Friday nights, the bar staff uniquely manage to dress scruffier than the already scruffy clientele a mix of quite old fading wannabee artists and students who don't know any better - the perma half drunk manager and his mangy dreadlocked dog bring the place down too - i've been in about five times over the last few years - i seem to be willing to give it a chance but every time i find a reason to not go regularly - i agree with glasshalffull - the beer just never seems to taste quite right, 2nd time i was there a small cockroach jumped on the bar and a drunk regular said they were coming from the kebab shop next door .. nice - i popped in recently as a notice outside said new management, walked in there's the same scruffy posh-lad manager half-pissed at the bar, to picture him imagine a 55 year old surfer from Surrey. Ok once again - last chance i though - i'm ere now,so i tried a beer - still not good, ok try the food - it arrived - palatable enough i suppose but not hot enough and the 'chef' ... dressed in Charity shop jeans and a real single-mum type baggy black top told me what's in it - so yes i've had it with The Funky Munky - awful name anyway - this is an honest account of my experience ...

This place is awful!

Use to be OK once upon a time. Then they moved the bar from the back wall to side wall, why? Have been there for a late night drink when everything other decent place in Camberwell (ie Dark Horse or Hermits has closed).

You have to pay to get in, £4 I think. The music is middle of the road 'Disco' think Grand Master Flash, white lines ... yep them old crowd pleasers which you know any nos of bars in London are playing at any one time.

The people genuinely seem to be having the time of there lives here. Studenty (I use the term demeaningly). At this time of night OK expect a few walking just messes.

The beer (no stella) Kronenberg then, tastes awful (always does). Not sure whether its the pipes or what?

I'm use to bad toilets but these are particularly bad.

Gone to the dogs. Woof!

Good after work, drinking sesh pub. Good music and the friendliest staff and punters in Camberwell.

Only downer is the queue for the bar during happy hour, but think that has a lot to do with the 2 for 1 cocktails, which is fine but just a bit of a downer when you just want a pint...
