This is now 2008 and there has been a huge turn around in respect to the appearence of the pub not to mention the new food menu has done the place wonders. Fantastic food! The crown is now open all day and has a fresh, clean traditional look and feel to it. It truly has gone up a gear or two. The beer garden is huge, well lit, and looks lovely with the trees and flowers. The prices of drinks and food at the Crown are extremely reasonable, best ive seen for miles. The staff there are also very welcoming and friendly, they have a good team on board there along with the new landlady they've given the Crown a new lease of life. They have regular theme nights there and various bands playing there on a weekly basis, plus private functions held frequently. This really isnt the Crown Inn it used to be, and take my word for it its not going anywhere other than up.

This pub is going! Yet another one .... The Crown, in London Road, is already part of the council-owned Civic Centre site, but the pub has decided to discontinue its lease of the property and call time at the end of this month.

Rumours had been circulating that Merton Council wanted to convert the old boozer into a processing centre for asylum seekers, but the whispers have been dismissed by Town Hall as "100 per cent" false."We are interested in the Crown pub site as additional council office space and have been talking to the relevant parties," said Councillor Samantha George, cabinet member for corporate resources.

"But we are at the very early stages of negotiations and nothing has been decided as yet," she added.

The Crown's bosses at Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) confirmed they were keen to vacate the site.

"We lease the pub and are in the process of selling the remains of the lease as the pub does not fit with the rest of our business," said Lucy Hall of S&N.

The two bars are quite separate, so if you don't want to watch football on one of the two screens, you can go to the quieter bar.

Handy location, being next to the Mitcham tram stop.
