Decent crowd still in here who respect The Clash but have yet to embrace KC & The Sunshine Band. Nice Guinness, friendly staff and a good if pricey jukebox. Better than most alternatives locally. Alphonso likes it in here as well. I agree with Alphonso. terenced - 13 Mar 2008 09:41
I had the misfortune to eat in this pub last week. It was a Friday lunchtime and despite the fact that there were only about half a dozen other customers, it took half an hour for the "food" to arrive. It was only a cheeseburger for Gawd's sake. Anyway, my main complaint - the food was absolutely atrocious, easily the worst pub meal I have had anywhere, ever. The burger was ridiculously overcooked - burned to a crisp and you could have used it to repair a punctured tractor tyre. The tomato in the bun was sopping wet and the bun itself was more like some sort of building material than food - it was rock hard. The serviette would have tasted better. I should have sent it back, but I didn't have another half hour. I was bloody angry though. lip - 10 Dec 2007 19:48
Hard to think of a better pub in Croydon. You can think of ones with a more imaginative range at the bar but the Edge gets it right in friendly service, a good atmosphere and an absorbing jukebox. A pub that deserves to do well. A mate of mine called Alphonso thinks they should add "Runaway Train" to the jukebox but he wants the moon on a stick. terenced - 6 Aug 2007 08:21
The Edge has had its up and downs over the years but now back to its best. Good beers, nice bar staff, good jukebox but most importantly nice atmosphere and you do not get many drunken idiots who maybe more suited to drinking in other bars. Great comfy seats and never find it to busy so usually find a seat. seaneee - 19 Mar 2007 11:50
I popped in here recently, and was glad to see this pub is back on track. Good Friday will mark the 20th anniversary of my first visit; in 1987 it was the Blacksmiths Arms, a name that can still provoke misty-eyed nostalgia for many true Croydonians (and gate-crashers like me). The pub went through a dodgy phase in the late 90s, but thankfully that was short-lived. timkholman - 5 Feb 2007 15:24
