| I remember when the Hogshead opened up (six years ago?) and there was an excellent selection of beer most of which was served straight from the barrel. The pub was always busy and there was a great atmosphere. What went wrong? There is now no decent beer on tap; the pub isn't busy and the atmosphere is terrible. Don't people who work in and manage pubs realise that they are part of the service industry. If people don't get the service they expect they will move elsewhere. | Sidcup's crying out for a decent pub and this isn't it. The place is dreadful. The bar staff are friendly, at least the female one's are. The manageress, Carla (yes she warrants having her name mentioned), is without doubt the rudest, most surly and un-professional bar manager I have ever encountered. The real ales are seldom on. The décor is atrocious. The toilets are a health risk - they've only recently put doors on the cubicles - that should give you the measure of the place! The food is horrible. The tables are sticky. There is nothing to recommend this place at all. Go to the portrait unless it's Friday or Saturday night or the footie's on. gazem - 25 Jun 2008 13:25 |

| This pub is a bit of a mixed bag. A bit woody, and in the corner, leather chairs around a gas log fire, very cosy. Bit of a drag getting up the stairs for a wee wee especially when you have had a few jars of real ale.
