My wife and I visit Padstow regularly and this is our favourite pub. It is not a 'purists' pub, I know (try the Golden Lion or the London) but if you like good beer, nice staff (landlord is a good guy) and perfectly decent (but not posh) food then it's great. If you can get a space outside (on the town side of the pub, overlooking the harbour) in summer it's delightful. davidsouthuk - 16 Sep 2008 15:01
Visited this pub on a grey day in Padstow, Most people were inside because of the weather, so it felt busy. Pub and interior look very old, so it's kind of dissappointing to see flat screen t.v's adorning the walls for the sport. Sign of the times I suppose. I had a nice pint of H.S.D. though, as I looked out the window at the rain. What's happened to Summer! hampshirehog - 2 Sep 2008 23:44
Beer was ok but pub was very quiet and soulless when we were there. Probably quite a busy place in the summer pubpubpubpub - 18 Mar 2008 00:10
Great pub to go to after a day out fishing on the "Cornish Bird" with John Peplar. It gets seriously busy though and the staff don't seem to cope with the clearing up (chips and peas trod into the floor) not their fault like I said seriously busy even for Padstein. Take your glasses back to the bar you tourist types that stay for one and move on and give us locals from Surey a break! scooterroy - 11 Oct 2005 16:16
had a great meal, cod and chipd fabulous. however management seriously lacking as next night we were told that there was food being served then refused 5 minutes later. got told we were not welcome after complaining!! so good pub if the staff and management can agree whether their serving food or not. majshelley - 2 Jan 2005 17:28
