Fair enough for a Wetherspoons - obviously not a favourite for those who prefer a traditional pub but the beer was good and at £1.70 for a well-served pint of 4.4 Acorn Porter who can complain when my previous pint of 3.8 bitter had cost me £3.00? A cheap but perfectly satisfactory meal was served with a smile within a couple of minutes of ordering. For me, a rather above-average drinking establishment of its type and a worthwhile experience on the day. Stamfordian - 6 Jan 2011 12:46
Fairly average/competent Wetherspoons, however it's very very dark and you can't see what you're eating or drinking! charlieguille - 16 Oct 2009 17:28
whilst not exactly "small", I would say it was one of teh smaller jdw pubs I have been in. As I recall, there was also not so many cask ales on offer as usual. That said, it is a nice place. and the usual jdw menu is available. it is also very convenient the the "west street" brigade. [a very popular part of the city in the evenings, for those who aren't familiar]. a 6 from me. reynard - 3 Jan 2009 15:20
Ex public baths building, a section of which has been converted into a regular Spoon. There's a nice room on the corner with a fireplace. It's an OK place with a small selection of guests. Much cheaper than the Spoons in town. We quite liked it. SilkTork - 7 Aug 2008 22:50
Beer is always in excellent condition here and a good range of guests is guaranteed. The Beer and a Burger is still only £3.99 here - the cheapest I have ever seen it (everywhere else is £4.59). Quite a few old gadgers but never any problems in my experiences. Sharp - 16 Jun 2008 22:16
