Ok loudnproud let's analyse some of your points made. No.1 "obviously written by idiots bearing a grudge". So anybody not agreeing with you is OBVIOUSLY an idiot. No.2 " No doubt due to being told off or barred due to loutish behaviour. " How do you know that? Not agreeing with you again eh! No.3" The landlord is one of the only ones in the area who doesnt tolerwte dick heads," One of the only ones? How can one be one of the only ones? No.4 "grudge bearing idiots" not in agreement again are they? Finally " it truly is the best boozer in prestwich" Your opinion and you're entitled to it just don't call others idiots because of theirs.

I would highly suggest ignoring most of the previous reviews as they are obviously written by idiots bearing a grudge. No doubt due to being told off or barred due to loutish behaviour. The landlord is one of the only ones in the area who doesnt tolerwte dick heads, hence the bad rep. The staff always seem happy and polite to me, although they also do not tolerate rudeness and bad behaviour. It may be more expensive than others in the area but then again the majority are holts pubs. The safe feeling and the quality of ale and beer makes up for any price difference. Its also nice to see so many locals in attendance, it is always proof of a good pubwhen the locals choose to spend their time there. Seriously folks, dont be put off by a couple of vendettas and grudge bearing idiots, it truly is the best boozer in prestwich.

Felt very deflated after a visit to this pub on Friday evening. My Friend and I, whilst by no means connoisseurs of real ale, appreciate a decent pint and were looking forward to trying a couple in what looked like a well presented and nice pub.

The interior was nice enough and it was lively. though thats where the good experience stopped. The barstaff were simply plain rude, almost like they were inconvenienced by having to serve you.

We ordered two pints of Pride of Pendle, a normally pleasant pint by Moorhouses in Burnley. I know this ale well and can can say that on this occasion it was a little old in the barrel. We opted for a couple of the guest beers after that, the names of which escape me know and instantly found them to be sour and vinegary. Smell, taste and their look were all completely off so I returned them, very politely to be informed by the bar lady that they were supposed to be like that and had a strong flavour. I agreed that they certainly had a strong flavour, though it was a sour one and the beer was in no doubt off. she called a young lad over and poured him a small glass asking him what he thought of it whilst I was stood at a busy bar and you could see his face turn instantly even though he didnt say anything and tried to hide it. All she would say then is "Its supposed to be like that but what else do you want" in a stroppy and agitated way. We got two pints of something plain and then left.

So, poor beer (unless you like standard fizz-font lagers) and unfriendly staff. Not much going for it unfortunately.

This old and once well run pub has been dragged down by the current owners and unfriendly barstaff. To anybody considering eating there let me tell you that the landlord (the one with the ponytail) doesn't wash his hands after using the loo.His wife trudges around the place like she has just found out there's no Father Xmas and the shortarsed barmaid is truly the rudest thing on the planet. Beer prices are (I think) the highest in the local area although the ale is kept well. Yes a plus point there did you spot it? There are plenty of locals who don't go in anymore and that's down to the general unease they feel when poneytailman stands around giving customers the beady eye. Not for me thanks I'll wait until they've moved on.

nice old boozer.no scallys or drug dealers but the landlords a complete tw@t! he thinks he's in Cheshire rather than grimy old Prestwich! I remember him when he changed barrels in the red Lion on Bury New Rd!
