A decent traditional pub tucked away off the main road. Well kept cask ales, albeit slightly pricey (especially compared with nearby Holts' pubs!)

@localperson2, aren't all reviews pretty presumptuous? They are all based on someones opinions and individual experiences, and if you have one rude member of staff you may very well lump all the staff together. the main issue I had was with tommymulletts review. it wasn't a review, it was someone using this as a way to bitch about people. I know the landlords daughter was extremely upset by it as we have a mutual friend, its what brought me to this site in the first place. Maybe I was a bit gung ho in my review but that's simply because I was annoyed by the pettiness of some of them. In fact you were being presumptuous yourself suggesting I may be friends with the landlord. I'm not, I've spoken to him in passing but that's it. I personally don't see the problem people have with him, and i think his wife is lovely. there is a small older woman who works there who can be rude and does favour the regulars, however I havent found that with the rest of the barstaff. I certainly apologise if Ive offended anyone with my reviews, it wasnt my intent, however I do wish some people would think before writing. These are normal people being talked about, who have feelings and at the end of the day are just trying to make a living like everyone else out there.

@loudnproud. I put a review on here re. personal hygiene and had a swipe at the staff, maybe a tad harsh but I too stand by that I said. Jollypinkgiant took your comment on because it seemed like you were presumtious on most points. As to writing a review without mentioning staff/owners etc. it's not easy as pubs by their very nature depend on friendly service and in this pub it's very selective. I live locally as my tag suggests and know like most others if your face doesn't fit in there you will have to wait forever to be served (fact). Now you are probably a friend of the current landlord and I'm sure you're treated well but have a word with others who he chooses to dislike on a whim and see what they say.Getting back to the personal hygiene attacks I agree with you that they are uncalled for but using the lavatory and then serving without washing ones hands is also uncalled for.regards localperson2

Ok, Very Un-Jolly Pink Giant. For a start I didnt say all of them. I was referring to those that choose to simply insult the owners and staff by calling them crude and nasty names or making uncalled for comments. Anyone bringing up personal hygiene in an attempt to insult someone is obviously bearing some sort of grudge and I wouldnt put loutish behaviour past them considering their so called reviews. At any rate it isnt a review of the pub it is merely trying to insult someone. Those are the reviews im referring to. How about you make your own review instead of trying to pick apart mine in an attempt to appear intelligent or righteous. I stand by everythkng I said. I concede I could have been clearer on the reviews I was referring to but I didnt want to draw anymore unnecessary attention to them. I notice you didnt choose to pick those reviews apart by the way.

Ok loudnproud let's analyse some of your points made. No.1 "obviously written by idiots bearing a grudge". So anybody not agreeing with you is OBVIOUSLY an idiot. No.2 " No doubt due to being told off or barred due to loutish behaviour. " How do you know that? Not agreeing with you again eh! No.3" The landlord is one of the only ones in the area who doesnt tolerwte dick heads," One of the only ones? How can one be one of the only ones? No.4 "grudge bearing idiots" not in agreement again are they? Finally " it truly is the best boozer in prestwich" Your opinion and you're entitled to it just don't call others idiots because of theirs.
