One of The best pubs in greater Manchester. Historical influence, beautiful surroundings, great atmosphere and good transport links into town. I've lived here now for over a year and this pub is the best pub of a fantasic suburban part of Manchester. Ignore the rubbish posted before, the andlord is actually a pretty nice guy (and I'm an outsider). Very cool pub, highly recomended!!!

just another comment regarding the one made by pollon22. I have stayed in the hotel roms several times over the past few years and have found them very good indeed. the pillows have not been thin, the bathrooms have been spotless along with the rest of the room. the housekeeper is one of the nicest, hardworking people in the place and I hate to think of anyone insulting her good work! and cobwebs? spiders happen, they're not dirty, and you will occasionally get cobwebs anywhere! get over it!

The Church Inn has in place a dress code banning tracksuits and baseball caps in order to deter the local 'chavs'. The reason for shutting for two hours on a Sunday is beacuse at one point, every pub in the village shut at this time and trouble makers descended on the Church instead. The pub has been commended by the Caledonian brewery and Wells & Young on its excellent upkeep and sales of Deuchars and Bombardier. The pub itself is far from shabby as all the staff take due care to make it so. Any sleight on the bar staff is unfair as they are all hard working and friendly, with great care being given towards every customer, regardless of whether they are regulars or new customers. Any comment made in a disparaging manner, I can only assume is due to the individual/s concerned having an issue with the landlord himself or from being barred. In all the pub is the best place to drink in Prestwich, and maybe even the whole borough of Bury.

Very run down from what it was when angie and chris owned it--we were SO sad to see this once fine pub in it's current, neglected state. The landlord looked as though he was a big issue seller- unshaven, quite drunk, and obviously oblivious of his customers distain for his childish Napolionic attitude. Our bedroom looked as though it had not had a decent clean in years--thin pillows--dirty bathroom--cobwebs--ugggh!The staff were obviously untrained-and most unwelcoming, playing with their mobiles and far too busy to deal with 'new faces'.-clearly a pub which now relies on fri/sat night trade, and the income from the letting rooms. Nothing like the lovely place we remember.JANE+MIKE T--from polefield.

totally agree with the last post. Stuck in the stone age by shutting for two hours on a sunday.
